Captain America: The Winter Soldier Volume 1
I read this in anticipation of Captain America: The Winter Solider movie. The movie is amazing by the way. Go see it.
While the movie borrows from the storyline, they don't have too much in common.
The volume starts with the Red Skull beginning his dastardly plan to charge the Tesseract by detonating bombs in a few major cities. On the eve of the plan, a mysterious assassin takes out the Red Skull and steals the cube. The assassin is revealed to be a person who may be just a legend but has been behind numerous killings over a 70 year period, despite only aging approximately five years.
The book ends with the captured Agent 13 discovering who the Winter Soldier is. I knew his identity going in, but thought the reveal was well done.
