One thing I saw while I was reading this, is that the manga adapatation stops with the third book. It does have some sort of conclusion, but it does not use anything from the last two books in the series. There are a lot of scenes in this book I would have loved to see drawn out so I am sorry on that aspect. I look forward to picking up Volumes 2 and 3 anyway.
At the time of this book, Alexia is eight months pregnant. The vampires are still kind of trying to kill her, but not as much as in the previous book now that she is back with her husband and Lord Akelmara is in town again. Conall and Alexia decide to have Lord Akelmara adopt the baby. I semi understood this, but since they plan to move into the adjacent house and live with him anyway it didn't make a lot of sense.
The overall mystery for the book was a mysterious message Alexia received from a ghost regarding the attempt on the life of the Queen. This investigation brings up the previous attempt from Conall's former pack and she delves into the history of who was really behind that. She also learns a bit more about her father.
The book ends with the birth of her child and we begin to learn what the offspring of a supernatural and preternatural can do. I look forward to the next book :)
