SPOILER ALERT!

Blameless

Blameless - Gail Carriger

So if you haven't read Changeless, I do not recommend clicking below.

Blameless picks up shortly after Changeless, with Alexia having left Conall after she found out that she was pregnant and he assumed that she had cheated on him since supernaturals can't (theoretically) have children.

Initially, Alexia is living back with her family, but when the news gets out they force her to leave. When she tries to visit her favorite vampire, he has mysteriously left. So she decides to head to Italy to she if she could discover how she became pregnant. Oh and the vampires keep trying to kill her.

I've enjoyed the world building in the first two books, but they were limited to the UK. This book takes us through France and Italy and shows how different the countries are in terms of how they treat the supernatural. Italy is the polar opposite of England, primarily because of the presence of the Templars who police the country.

This book also revealed a bit more about the history of preternaturals and Alexia's father, but not as much as at least I would have liked to learn. But there are two more books.

I was fine with her forgiving Conall because I knew that's how the book would end. It was still fun. One of my favorite scenes from the Soulless manga is when Conall is told he will have to grovel. And in this book he realizes he has to again. I do hope that scene is in the manga adaptation of this book.
