Changeless

Changeless - Gail Carriger

After reading the manga Soulless last year, and then picking up the full novel version, I have meant to finish the series. Since one of my GR groups is reading Etiquette & Espionage, and even though you don't have to read this series, I wanted to.

Changeless picks up shortly after where Soulless ended. Alexia and Conall have been married a few months and still settling into their new routines. When all the supernaturals lose their abilities and become mortal, similarly to what happens when they come into contact with a preternatural, but Alexia was nowhere near the area.

In her new position as advisor to Queen Victoria, Alexia goes to investigate, not surprisingly following her husband who has taken off after his former pack. Alexia also gets a new Q/James Bond-esque parasol from a French inventor, Madame Lefoux.

The mysterious inventor ends up travelling with Alexia to Scotland where she goes to investigate the supernatural plague. Additionally, Alexia is traveling with her husband's claviger, her recently engaged friend Ivy, and one of her hated sisters, Felicity. Fun trip, right?

Alexia does figure out where the plague is coming from, and it has major implications for the rest of the series, and helps her husband sort out his former pack.

And then the ending. I freaked out for a few minutes and then had to instantly start Blameless.

I will pick up the manga version, but I think I'll finish the novel series first. I have also heard good things about the audiobooks, and I think I would love them. I'm still working through my current audiobook backlog, but I will probably add this to the list, even though I will have already read them.
