Just Another Reader

Due to my lack of reading and busy schedule, I haven't been on here much lately. I figured I could try jump back into it with this.

1. I've escaped from Alcatraz. By that I mean I participated in the Alcatraz Sharkfest which is a yearly swim from Alcatraz to San Francisco.

2. I hold dual citizenship with the US and Switzerland. I was born and raised in the US but my mom's family is Swiss. I've visited every few years and consider it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I am a bit biased though.

3. Despite the above, I really only speak English. I know some phrases and feel like I can pretty much get around in foreign countries, but all attempts to learn another language haven't taken.

4. My birthday is the greatest day in program history of my high school swim and water polo team. Naturally, it has nothing to do with me. It was the day that my school got approved to start building a swimming pool. My school fielded men and women's water polo and a swim team, yet each season we had to scramble to find a place to practice and play our games. The pool was finished just over a year later just in time for our last home swim meet. I actually got to be one of the first students in the pool due to my position as one of the swim team captains.

5. My favorite sport is water polo. I started playing in high school (see above) and though we didn't do very well, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life due to my teammates and my coach. When I graduated, I didn't plan on playing again. In grad school, I ended up sharing an office with a member of their women's club water polo team. I ended up playing with them and having a great time, again mainly due to awesome teammates and coach.

6. I love Joss Whedon creations. I did actually meet him briefly and got him to sign a Serenity trade for me :)

7. I love fanfiction. I don't like the pull-to-publish trend and try to avoid it. I have no issues with an author who does or used to write fanfiction. Marissa Meyer has some great Sailor Moon ones that are even still up. I have been reading fanfiction so long, I remember when fanfiction.net did not have chapters. Much less abandoned fics back then. I still have some that haven't been updated in around 10 years that I still have faith in and check in on occassionally.

8. My husband is my best friend. I may want to kill him at times, but I love him.

9. I don't have any pets at the moment. We did have hamsters at our last apartment, but they turned evil. They did die before we moved. Hufflepuff and the evil Peanut. You are not missed. We're still moving into our house, but hope to get a cat and a dog in the near future. And I hope they will be friendly :)

10. I have always loved fantasy. If a book/movie has a dragon, it instantly gets my attention. One of my biggest dreams is to have a dragon of my own. Toothless is my favorite dragon. I cannot wait for the sequel this summer.
