Love in the Afternoon

Love in the Afternoon completes the Hathaways series with the story of Beatrix and Captain Christopher Phelan. One problem, Capt. Phelan is courting Beatrix's friend. While fighting in the Crimean War, Capt. Phelan writes to Pru, but she has no interest in writing him back. She does however, let Beatrix write back as her. The two start to fall in love, but Beatrix feels guilty and breaks it off.
When Capt. Phelan, now changed from the war, returns he tracks down the girl he believes to be in love with. As the youngest Hathaway, the series has seen a lot of Beatrix and her antics, usually resulting from her love of animals. In particular, she loves to rescue and rehabilitate wounded animals. A wounded soldier is right up her alley. Capt. Phelan soon realizes that Pru is not the girl he fell for. In true historical romance, the two do eventually find their way back to each other.
My favorite part of the Hathaways series was definitely the Hathaway family. They are present throughout all of the books. Most series will have at least cameos of the different couples. This series, while each book does focus on a different couple, the family is present thoughout each book. While in reality, I may have gone crazy from being part of such a family, it sounds like a lot of fun. Each person marrying a Hathaway did have to come to terms with the fact that they were marrying the entire family at one point and all embraced it.
Overall Cam Rohan was my favorite male lead. His humor and leadership kicked off the series and was a constant throughout. I think Poppy ended up being my favorite female, though I loved Win's persistance in getting her partner. I highly recommend this series, but read Wallflowers first :)
