A Hidden Fire

A Hidden Fire - Elizabeth Hunter

A Hidden Fire was one of those kindle freebies I picked up a while ago and promptly forgot about. It was picked for me in a group I'm in.

I'm glad I read it. The beginning definitely reminded me a lot of A Discovery of Witches, which I didn't love, but it was much better. The relationship was well done and I liked the mythology of the paranormal creatures. It wasn't as good as the Fever series, but I really enjoyed it.

I did have a few issues. For example, the book takes place in 2003/2004, but a character is called suspicious at one point because he doesn't have a cell phone, laptop, or website for his business. That was not weird at that point.

I'm trying to hold off on buying the rest of the series, but I may give in. I will definitely finish it though.
