The Princess Bride

The Princess Bride - William Goldman

I was fairly confused for most of the beginning of this book, until I read that Bill Goldman was actually the author. There's a long backstory at the start of this book about how this book was read to him as a child, but when he found the book as an adult, he realized there was a lot more boring bits that his dad skipped and he decides to publish an "abridged" version of it. Then he adds commentary during the book.

This was adapted in the movie as the movie being read from the grandfather to the grandson.

The actual story is interesting but the notes and story behind the "abridgment" was too over the top. This is one of those rare cases that the movie is better than the book.
