The School for Good and Evil

The School for Good and Evil - Soman Chainani

The School for Good and Evil is a fun satire of common fantasy tropes. It revolved around two friends, Sophie who believes beauty care is one of the most important traits a girl can have, and Agatha, who wears black and lives in a graveyard. When the girls are stolen to attend the School for Good and the School for Evil, it seems obvious where each one should land, but Agatha is dropped into the School for Good and Sophie into the School for Evil.

Most of the book revolves around them trying to switch, Sophie believing that she is destined for being a Princess, and Agatha not feeling like she fits into the School for Good. Additionally the School for Good has been on a 200 year winning streak for fairytales, which is where the students end up after graduation.

This book was a bit disjointed and back and forth for me to truly enjoy though, particularly in the end. The underlying story was interesting and I am curious to see how it will play out in at least the next book.
