At the beginning of the year I challenged myself to finally read all of Jane Austen. I had previously read Pride & Prejudice many years ago. Recently I finished Northanger Abbey as read by Juliet Stevenson.
Stevenson is a wonderful narrator who I first listened to for Mansfield Park and then for Emma. My only issue with her in this book is her "John Thorpe" is pretty much identical to her "Mr. Rushworth" from Mansfield Park.
Now as for the book, there isn't a lot to say that hasn't already been said by others. Northanger Abbey was Jane Austen's first written novel and it reads like it. It is disjointed between the two main sections in the book between Bath and the Abbey. But I still enjoyed it. I did particularly like Catherine and loved Henry Tilney. It's not my favorite Jane Austen but still recommended.
