Serpent's Kiss picks up right after Storm's Heart in which Rune, a wyr gryphon for Dragos, agreed to owe a powerful vampyre, Carling, a favor for her saving another wyr's life. But when he goes to collect the favor he realizes that something is wrong with her and he wants to help.
Carling is an old vampyre, turned during the times of ancient Egypt. But in this world vampyres, while they can have an extremely long life, are not immortal. She's spent the last 200 years trying to find a cure but finds herself with nothing and perhaps weeks or days left.
I did like this book, but not as much as the last two. The relationship was great between the two and while it developed quickly, it did not feel like instalove. I did feel like Carling faded over the course of the book which I didn't like.
I did guess who the next couple was and based off the preview chapter I am really going to enjoy it.
