Batgirl, Vol. 1: The Darkest Reflection

Batgirl, Vol. 1: The Darkest Reflection - Gail Simone, Vicente Cifuentes, Ardian Syaf

This run of Batgirl was one of the new 52. It was a really fun volume and I think I may pick up another from this run. I've heard of Gail Simone for years but this is the first time I have read anything from her.

In this universe, Batgirl, aka Barbara Gordon had been in a wheelchair due to being shot by the Joker. In the past universe, she remains paralyzed but takes on the role of the Oracle. In this universe she recovers and returns to her secret identity of Batgirl. But that she still struggles with her memories of that night.

I know a decent amount about Batman, and therefore bits and pieces about Batgirl, but I didn't know anything about her villains. This volume features two.

The first, the Mirror is killing people off of a list he has. And Batgirl is on it, in both her identities. The second goes by Gretel who can somehow control people. I really enjoyed this book and recommend the series.

Side note: one of my new kittens walked across the keyboard and tried to add the tags:

I wonder what she's trying to tell me.
