Just Another Reader

Sisters Red is the first in an unconnected (as far as I can tell) series of fairytale retellings and this one borrows mostly from Little Red Riding Hood.

It's about two sisters, Scarlett and Rosie whose Oma was killed by a Fenris when they were children. Scarlett was able to fight it off but lost an eye and has many scars from the attack. She grows up and becomes a hunter of them, determined to save as many people as she can. She also is friends with Silas, whose family has been fighting them for many years. Rosie has also learned to fight, but begins to realize that she wants more out of life than just fighting.

Overall it was a good book. Good female characters, no love triangle, well thought out monsters, and I really liked both sisters. I don't think I'll continue on with the series though.
